Keiichi wields the Transfer Student's Bat (転校生のバット "Tenkousei no Batto") ready to bash people's heads in for trying to put needles in his food like that one time he saw it happen in a cool manga he read.

Super Mario Sluggers Keiichi is probably the most basic character in the game.

Shots[]

Neutral Shot (NS)[]

Reload time: 5 seconds

Full reload time: 20 seconds (to reload 8 shots from 0)

Standard projectile that throws a baseball from Keiichi's hand. Jump-cancellable.

Viable technique is to ground dash NS and jump cancel into airdash.

Charge Shot (CS)[]

Reload time: 7 seconds

Full reload time: 7 seconds (to reload 2 shots from 0)

Faster than NS, viable strategy is to CS and then use NS from mid-range, can't perform at very low altitude. Knocks down, and you can NS to get extra damage.

You can whiff cancel your dash into CS and get a great momentum slide, very useful in neutral since you don't stand in one place.

Changing your lock-on during this animation will change your direction to the other opponent for a feint or an emergency target switch.

Full Charge Shot (FCS)[]

Charge Time: 3.5 seconds

Quicker to fire than CS and can be performed at lowest altitude, but leaves you standing for a longer time, and the lock-on homing correction stops before the shot is even fired. Leads to an easily avoidable attack that leaves you open for a risky time.

Unlike CS, does not keep momentum when cancelled from DashA.

Combos/Tech Tips[]

Keiichi has the basic combo of NA autocombo into OTG NS. However, he can't combo into this CS or FCS after his autocombo.

You can also do NA FA jump cancel ADA into OTG NS, the JP wiki recommends this combo, but it is pretty much the same damage as autocombo into NS but it looks impressive so yeah.

It is possible to combo into CS or FCS from FA (example, NA FA CS/FCS), but it's probably not worth it when you can get good damage from simple meterless autocombo.
